Lanzarote´s Incredible Climate
Posted: under UK Travel.
As one of the most southerly outposts of the European Community, Lanzarote is not always the first place people think of when considering a summer holiday. But the island´s location off the coast of Morocco ensures it has an enviable year round climate that usually appeals to holidaymakers from more northern climes.
And whilst the island´s popularity as a winter destination has been assured over the last four decades, holidays at other times of the year are becoming more frequent. In reality, Lanzarote has long been favoured by Spaniards as they seek to escape the oppressive temperatures found in Madrid and southern Spain in summer.
As despite its more southerly location, in fact, the weather in the summer is more bearable due to a fairly constant breeze that blows in from the Atlantic. It is this particular combination of conditions that make the island such a favourite with more active holidaymakers as well.
Sports enthusiasts are amongst the many regular visitors the island receives, as the climate permits a wide range of physical activities throughout the year. Cycling, surfing and hill walking are all popular pursuits, with locals as well as holidaymakers.
This more independent style of traveller is more likely to choose from one of the many Lanzarote villas that are now available as rental properties. This type of property often offers just the right kind of atmosphere for relaxation after a day of activity.
And whilst there are plenty of individual properties located in the countryside, a good number of villas in Puerto del Carmen have also been adapted for this purpose. With many of these situated in the more exclusive areas of the resort, such as Los Mojones, they offer an extremely attractive experience to their guests.
Not only is the accommodation of a high standard, with private pools and gardens the norm, but they are also within close reach of a huge number of restaurants, bars and clubs for those who like to venture out at night. And an equally good range of shops and supermarkets during the day.
As increasing numbers of visitors choose to stay in private villas rather than a hotel, the perception that Lanzarote is only suitable for cheap bucket and spade holidays is now beginning to change. Just as tourists are also beginning to realise that they can visit the island in any month of the year and experience very similar weather.
